Practice makes Perfect?

Well not exactly perfect, but always working towards it!!

Have had a little time this afternoon and decide to have a go at the foxgloves again... still a study piece just trying to work things out and think I am happier with this as this is more the sort of thing I had imagined. Only small... I was only intending to do some practices, so wasn't planning a full painting but this has shown me some ideas for a larger painting which I may get around to sometime!! Started off with a wash and built the flowers up once it had dried

  1. Hope you can recreate this in a painting Judith, if this had been it how wonderful a result, a very Jean Haines style but I know this is what you have been building too so your practice is paying off

    1. Thanks Lorraine... so often the case when I am only doing something for practice I get something I like but this was to try and work out how to do the flowers within the painting and I think have an idea now so maybe a big one will be good... watch this space!!

As you say this is the style I have been working at it fits my way of thinking and painting. I really can't get on with doing all the detail some artists like...am too impatient and want to see things happening!! However as you know this isn't a quick option either and I am finding that a bit more detailed knowledge about the subject is helping me find the "looseness"

    1. Thank you Leona, delighted you like.. I have cropped this as it was sitting in the middle of the paper so is only about 7"x7". But I love it when I get something which is close to what I am looking for and am always hopeful I will recreate in another!!

  3. G'day from Oz, Judith. Your foxgloves experiment looks great, and will make a nice card. We have to keep up with the X-perimentals, but some work beautifully. Thanks for sharing.
